The name "Scotty" is famously known from the Star Trek franchise, the Starship Enterprise 's chief engineer. In this reimagined commercial, the character is repurposed to solve modern domestic "engineering" challenges with the same ingenuity. To separate the ad from direct IP conflicts, a fictional "Scotty" might be a legendary engineer in his own right, known for fixing impossible mechanical problems.
