To celebrate The Sims 2's 10th anniversary and to mark the end of its official support, Electronic Arts made a surprise move in July 2014: they gave away on Origin for free. This version bundled the base game with all eight expansion packs and all ten stuff packs ever released for the title. To get it, all anyone needed was an Origin account and the redemption code "I-LOVE-THE-SIMS". This was a monumental giveaway, but the promotion was limited-time, officially ending in 2018. After that, the Ultimate Collection was no longer commercially available.
